Certitude is NISG qualified body (QuaSte / NIS auditor)

The Netz- und Informationssystemsicherheitsgesetz (Network and Information System Security Act), often referred to as NIS law or NISG, obliges operators of essential services to take appropriate measures to ensure a high level of security for network and information systems. Companies that fall under the NISG criteria must carry out regular NIS audits to demonstrate this. These audits must be carried out by auditors accredited by the authority, so-called qualified bodies (QuaSte).

Certitude Consulting has been identified as a qualified body by the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and is therefore authorized to review and confirm the requirements of the NISG for operators of essential services. This applies fully to all security precautions, both organizational and technical.

The authority’s audit confirmed that Certitude

  • employs qualified and vetted auditors with multiple years of experience
  • implements high levels of security measures in the organization
  • uses suitable tools
  • applies proper audit processes and reporting channels

in order to be allowed to carry out audits of operators of essential services in accordance with NISG.

What’s new in NIS2

The NIS2 Directive came into force on January 16, 2023 and will replace the current NIS Directive. Member states must implement the directive by October 17, 2024. The new regulations are expected to apply to organizations from October 18, 2024.

The new policy is intended to further improve cyber resilience. In addition, the sectors covered by the NIS2 Directive will be expanded to cover a much larger part of the economy. This particularly presents companies that have not previously been directly affected by NIS with the challenge of meeting the relevant requirements and providing evidence.
