Looking Back at BSides Vienna 2026
Despite the midsummer heat, BSides Vienna 2026 was held at the Dachsaal of Urania for the first time, bringing the Austrian cybersecurity community together in a new venue. Once again, BSides Vienna provided a platform for technical knowledge sharing, engaging talks, and valuable networking opportunities.
Certitude participated both as a sponsor and with a technical talk. In their presentation, “Human Factor – Cybersecurity’s Weakest Link or Most Adaptive Defense?”, our colleagues Yvonne Bauer and Wolfgang Ettlinger explored the central role of human behavior in cyber defense. One of the key takeaways was that successful cybersecurity depends on close collaboration between the IT security team and the wider organization: “Together we stand. Divided we fall.”
With its larger venue and expanded program, the event featured a diverse mix of talks, workshops, and networking opportunities. Particularly noteworthy was the combination of experienced experts and rookie speakers, highlighting the importance of providing a platform for new voices within the cybersecurity community. In addition, the collaboration with Women4Cyber Austria helped increase the representation of women at the conference.
We would like to thank the outstanding organizing team for their excellent preparation and support throughout the event, as well as all speakers and participants for the many insightful discussions and the open exchange of ideas.
We are proud to continue supporting BSides Vienna as a sponsor and are already looking forward to next year’s event.
